El hormiguero incluye dos piezas de cierre para las conexiones externas por si éstas no se quieren utilizar (por tanto no se requieren tapones) y dos piezas de conexión que facilitan el perfecto encaje de los tubos flexibles apropiados.

El hormiguero cuenta además con 3 piezas de apertura y 3 piezas de cierre de galerías, de modo que se puede ir ampliando poco a poco el espacio para la colonia a medida que esta va creciendo, lo que lo hace ideal para todo tipo de especies y tamaños de colonia.

El sistema de humedad consta de un depósito con dos espojas de un material superabsorbente (PVA) que permitirán mantener el hormiguero humedecido durante semanas. El hormiguero tiene ranuras para evitar inundaciones en caso de que se produzca algún desbordamiento a la hora de rellenar el depósito.

Tanto las piezas de apertura y cierre del hormiguero como las de las galerías están diseñadas para evitar fugas hasta de las especies más pequeñas como Pheidole o Tetramorium.
